Like many, Tom's automotive passion started at a young age because of his father. He was only 5 years old when his father ordered a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback GT-A (Hi-Po K-Code 271hp 289ci), and soon thereafter, they were active in a Mustang club activities such as shows, rallyes and picnics.
As a teen, he was the only Ford fanatic amongst his friends, this of course lead to many spirited debates. Which are still raging today...
Tom was 19 when he joined the Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) in 1981. One of their slogans was, "Ownership isn't essential, enthusiasm is", and was Tom ever enthusiastic. Having acquired various Mustangs over the years, it wasn't until 1987 when he bought his first specialty car, a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger. He had already been a member of the Northern California chapter of SAAC for two years, and now he had a car in which he could participate in track days. This opened up an entirely new world for him.
